Mrs. Laura V. Doyle died Saturday morning at her home in Clearspring, after a lingering illness of consumption, aged 56 years. The deceased was a member of the Episcopal Church. She was the widow of Dr. Doyle and a Miss McLaughlin before marriage. Her husband died some years ago. Funeral Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the house, by Rev. J.C. Coon, of Hancock. Interment at St. Pauls Church. Deceased is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Dr. A. Shank, Clearspring, Mrs. Wm. E. Smith, Ashton, and two surviving brothers, Edward McLaughlin, near Reids, and Harry, in Florida.

John Doyle, of Doylestown, over in the Valley, fell from a fence recently and injured himself so badly that he died soon afterward. He was a member of the Catholic Church and had one of the largest funerals ever seen in that region.

Doyle- After a lingering illness, Sylvester A. Doyle died August 1st 1908 at 5 o’clock p.m. aged 50 years. He was a son of Dominick and Elizabeth Doyle and was born near Doylesburgh, Franklin Co., Pa. After he grew to manhood he went west, first to Iowa then from there to Nebraska where he remained about one year after which he returned to Pennsylvania and married Miss Frances Snare. He bought the Andrew Hegie farm where he has lived about 16 years near Ceder Rock station, Dublin Township. He leaves a widow and one adopted son, also one brother, John of Altoona, and a sister, Mrs. Blanche Wineland, Altoona, and a brother Simon at Chicago, all of whom are married and have families.

James McEnespy- James McEnespy died at his home between Dry Run and Doylesburg. He had been in delicate health for some time but his fatal illness dated only from the day previous. Death ensued from Bright's disease. Mr. McEnespy came to this county from Baltimore many years ago, in the old wagoning days before the Civil war. He was a successful farmer and enjoyed the esteem of all who knew him. He was twice married, his first wife having been a Miss Doyle, the second, who survives him, a Miss Fortney. Five children also survive.

Death comes to Thomas H. Doyle, aged physician; One of St. Josephs oldest and most prominent citizens succumbs after a serious operation; Once mayor and on police commission; taught in Medical Colleges here-was first head of local doctors society; Dr. Thomas H. Doyle, one of St. Josephs oldest and most prominent physicians and formerly mayor of the city, died at St. Josephs hospital last night at 6:15 o'clock following a serious operation Monday morning. He was 73 years old and had been in poor health for some time past. The passing of Dr. Doyle marked finis to the career of a most able and influential citizen. During his residence here, since 1869, he had been prominent not only in the medical profession, but in politics as well.; Taught in Medical College; When he came to this city he formed a partnership with Dr. E.J. Donelan. This partnership lasted for four years, after which he became a member of the facility of Josephs hospital medical college, the first ever found here. Later the college was known as the Ensworth, which title it holds today. For a number of years he was president for the board of trustees at the Ensworth college. When the Buchannan County Medical society was formed, Dr. Doyle was made its president and he was also a member of all of the prominent medical societies in the Missouri valley. He was at one time president of the local United States pension examining board.; In 1886 he made the race for mayor of the city on the Democrat ticket. ***(can't read these two lines on obituary.)*** When the Saxton rifles, a state military organization was formed, he was made major and surgeon. Under the administration of Gov. Folk, Dr. Doyle was appointed a member of the police board, and held it until after Gov. Hadley was elected.; Born in Pennsylvania; Thomas H. Doyle was born at Doylesburg, Pa. Nov. 5, 1840. He received his early education in the schools of that place. Completing his preparatory school work he entered the University of the city of New York and graduated there in 1865. Later he took a post graduate course in the Bellevue Hospital Medial College of New York. Dr. Doyle married Oct. 12, 1871 to Margaret G. Sheehan of St. Joseph. his wife died June 16 last. The surviving children are Dr. John M. Doyle and Miss Agnes Doyle, both of this city. No definite arrangements have been made for the funeral, excepting that it will be held from St. Josephs cathedral, probably Friday.

Dry Run was visited by death on Friday evening, when W. Anthony Doyle, aged 65 years, passed away. having been a sufferer from Brights Disease for a year or more. Deceased was a carpenter, having followed the trade in Dry Run for forty years having acquired a reputation for excellent work. A widow and eight children survive: John C., Dry Run; Wm. M., Altoona; Newton, in Texas; Earl, at home; Mrs. Bruce Grove, Swissdale; Mrs. Clark, Waterford; Mrs. Mack Barnhart, Dry Run; and Mrs. Ejeants, Shirleysburg. The funeral was held today at 10 o’clock, interment at Doylesburg.

Mrs. Eva Doyle McCleery, aged 82 years, died at 162 W. Washington St. Wednesday evening at 11:30 o'clock after an illness of two weeks of Paralysis. Widow of Jerome McCleery, who died many years ago and the daughter of William and Margaret Byer Doyle, old residents of this city. She was a sister of Dr. Frederick C. Doyle, of Clearspring and the late Mrs. Peter J. Mayberry, of this city. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Louise H. Fechtig, Prospect St.. Mrs. McCleery spent some years in St. Joseph, Mo. where she made her home with the family of the late Jos. J. Smith, who moved West from Washington County many years ago. About five years ago, she returned to Washington County. She was a highly educated woman and oldest living graduate of the Visitation Convent, Frederick. She belonged to the old school of culture and refinement. Her life was one of charity and prayer, full of devotion. Funeral Saturday at 9 o'clock. Requiem Mass at St. Marys Catholic Church by Rev. Fr. Hurlbut. Pallbearers are: George, Frederick, Alexander, Paul Fechtig; T. Benton and Victor Cushwa, all nephews.

John M. Doyle died of paralysis on August 6 at his home in Altoona, aged 67 years and 23 days. He was born in Doylesburg and when a small child removed with his parents to Shade Gap where he grew to manhood. He is survived by his wife and several children. The remains were taken to Shade Gap where interment was made in the little graveyard of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

Mrs. Louise H. Fechtig, widow of the late Dr. George Fechtig, died at noon Saturday. Mrs. Fechtig was a daughter of William E. and Margaret (Byer) Doyle, and was born in Leitersburg. Mrs. Fechtig was a life long resident of Hagerstown, and was married here in 1865. She was the mother of eleven children. These are Mrs. Victor M. Cushwa, Mrs. Louise M. Veirs, Mrs. Frank F. Beall, of Detroit; Miss Helen A. Fechtig, William E., Richard B., Edward M., of Washington; George W., J. Frederick, Alexander C., and Paul Septimus Fechtig. She was a devoted member of St. Marys Catholic Church. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Marys Catholic Church Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock. Burial will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Annie Doyle died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Minnie McCartney near Spring Run, December 15, aged 63 years. She was the daughter of Sylvester and Harriet (Fegan) McElhenny of Concord., where she spent her girlhood. She married William Doyle and resided on a farm near Doylesburg. Later they quit farming and engaged in the oil business in western Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Oklahoma. After Mr. Doyle's death she resided in Doylesburg until nine months ago when a stroke of paralysis made it necessary to remove her to her sisters home where she was cared for by her niece, Miss Marie McCartney. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church at Doylesburg where the funeral was held last Monday.

Shippensburg Chronicle. Shippensburg, Pa.. November 11, 1926. Alice S. Doyle (Widow of John G. Doyle) died Sunday at the home of her brother S.A. Skinner in Arendtsville, after a years illness. She was aged 51 years, 1 month, and 21 days, and was a daughter of the late John W. and Emmaline Woods Skinner of Dry Run. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Clara Neal of Dillsburg, S.A. Skinner of Arendtsville, H.W. Skinner of Chambersburg, Mrs. William Campbell of Dry Run, and Ms. John E. Jones of Shippensburg. Funeral services were held Tuesday Morning in the Spring Run Church.

Malinda Doyle, daughter of William J. and Margaret Hockenberry, was born January 10, 1876 in Fannett Township, Franklin County. She is survived by her husband, Dominic M. Doyle, one son: Wesley Doyle of Doylesburg: six daughters; Mrs. Miles Carr of Waynesboro; Adaline Doyle of Waynesboro; Nettie, Nina, Besh, and Louise at home; and one granddaughter at home, Violet Yocum. She leaves the following brothers and sisters: Wesley Hockenberry of Lebanon; Herman Hockenberry of Dry Run; Mrs. Mervin Diviney of Concord; Briten Hockenberry of Concord, and Hanna Beaston of Trenton, New Jersey. Her early life was spent on her fathers farm in Horse Valley on the Franklin and Perry County lines until her marriage to D.M. Doyle on April 25, 1894. This union was blessed with rather a large family. She not only proved to be a good wife but a real mother, willing to share the many trials and discomforts of a home. She had been faithful for more than 33 years. About all her married life was spent in Path Valley near Doylesburg. It was in her home, in this community, where she died avout 4 o'clock in the evening, September 11. Although strickern with a fatal illness more than a year ago, she continued to be the light of her home. The funeral services were in charge of Rev. Herbert Hudgins, pastor of the Doylesburg Methodist Protestant Church. After a brief service in the home, the body was removed to the Doylesburg Church where further services were held. Rev. Hudgins made some appropiated remarks concerning her life as a memorial. The unusally large attendance at the funeral, Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Methodist church, evidenced the warm place she held in the community in which she lived. The Church was filled to capacity. After the services, her body was tenderly laid to rest in the Doylesburg Cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Ann Doyle Shields, aged 81, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Yocum, near Doylesburg on Friday, March 15. She was the widow of Daniel Shields, who died a number of years ago. She was a member of the Doylesburg Methodist Church and is survived by the following children: Bernard of Dry Run, Charles of Doylesburg, Elmer of Nebraska, Mrs. Elizabeth Yocum and Mrs. Agnes Rosenberry, both of Doylesburg, Edward, Denton and Barbara of Ohio, and Mary Shearer of Blairs Mills. Funeral services conducted by Rev. H.E. Hudgins were held Tuesday in the Doylesburg Methodist Church. Interment at Doylesburg.

Mrs. Margaret G. Doyle died at her home in Dry Run, on Monday, aged 87 years. She was in her usual health when a neighbor called in the evening. She was found dead in her chair. Her husband Anthony Doyle died a number of years ago. She is survived by three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Elizabeth Barnhart, Dry Run; Mrs. Minnie Clark, East Waterford; Mrs. Annie Grove, Pittsburgh; William Doyle, Bellwood; Pearl E. Doyle, Fannettsburg; also one brother, Taylor Goshorn of Doylesburg. Interment will be at Doylesburg.

She was a daughter of Thomas McElhenny of Concord and was a loyal member of St. Marys Catholic Church at Doylesburg. Her husband, John Doyle, died several years ago. She is survived by six sons and one daughter. Basil of Shippensburg; Mack and Joseph of Ohio; Alonza of Doylesburg; William of Dry Run; Leo of Waynesboro; Judith and Mrs. Harry Best of Doylesburg, and one brother, Philip McElhenny of McSherrystown. Burial today at Doylesburg.

William Isaac Zeigler died at his home near Doylesburg, Thursday, July 24. He had been a sufferer for years with asthma but his death was due to apoplexy. He was engaged in farming in his early life, but later was a foreman on the state road. He was a director in the Path Valley bank since its organization and served a term as county auditor. His first wife was Annie Doyle. To this union there were two children, Basil Zeigler of Doylesburg, and Mary (deceased). His second wife was Maud Crouse and she and two children survive- Zelda Crouse of Willow Hill and Frank at home. He is also survived by two half-brothers, George and Joseph Zeigler of Dry Run, and two Half-sisters, Mrs. Jennie Baker of Chambersburg, and Mrs. Blanche Hammond of Dry Run. Funeral was held Sunday with services in the Doylesburg Church, conducted by his pastor, Rev. H.E. Hudgins.

She was a devoted member of St. Marys Catholic Church. Funeral services will be conducted at St. Marys Catholic Church Tuesday morning at 9 o’clock. Burial will be held in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Annie Doyle died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Minnie McCartney near Spring Run, December 15, aged 63 years. She was the daughter of Sylvester and Harriet (Fegan) McElhenny of Concord., where she spent her girlhood. She married William Doyle and resided on a farm near Doylesburg. Later they quit farming and engaged in the oil business in western Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Oklahoma. After Mr. Doyle's death she resided in Doylesburg until nine months ago when a stroke of paralysis made it necessary to remove her to her sisters home where she was cared for by her niece, Miss Marie McCartney. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church at Doylesburg where the funeral was held last Monday.

Shippensburg Chronicle. Shippensburg, Pa.. November 11, 1926. Alice S. Doyle (Widow of John G. Doyle) died Sunday at the home of her brother S.A. Skinner in Arendtsville, after a years illness. She was aged 51 years, 1 month, and 21 days, and was a daughter of the late John W. and Emmaline Woods Skinner of Dry Run. She was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church. Surviving are the following brothers and sisters: Mrs. Clara Neal of Dillsburg, S.A. Skinner of Arendtsville, H.W. Skinner of Chambersburg, Mrs. William Campbell of Dry Run, and Ms. John E. Jones of Shippensburg. Funeral services were held Tuesday Morning in the Spring Run Church.

Malinda Doyle, daughter of William J. and Margaret Hockenberry, was born January 10, 1876 in Fannett Township, Franklin County. She is survived by her husband, Dominic M. Doyle, one son: Wesley Doyle of Doylesburg: six daughters; Mrs. Miles Carr of Waynesboro; Adaline Doyle of Waynesboro; Nettie, Nina, Besh, and Louise at home; and one granddaughter at home, Violet Yocum. She leaves the following brothers and sisters: Wesley Hockenberry of Lebanon; Herman Hockenberry of Dry Run; Mrs. Mervin Diviney of Concord; Briten Hockenberry of Concord, and Hanna Beaston of Trenton, New Jersey. Her early life was spent on her fathers farm in Horse Valley on the Franklin and Perry County lines until her marriage to D.M. Doyle on April 25, 1894. This union was blessed with rather a large family. She not only proved to be a good wife but a real mother, willing to share the many trials and discomforts of a home. She had been faithful for more than 33 years. About all her married life was spent in Path Valley near Doylesburg. It was in her home, in this community, where she died avout 4 o'clock in the evening, September 11. Although strickern with a fatal illness more than a year ago, she continued to be the light of her home. The funeral services were in charge of Rev. Herbert Hudgins, pastor of the Doylesburg Methodist Protestant Church. After a brief service in the home, the body was removed to the Doylesburg Church where further services were held. Rev. Hudgins made some appropiated remarks concerning her life as a memorial. The unusally large attendance at the funeral, Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in the Methodist church, evidenced the warm place she held in the community in which she lived. The Church was filled to capacity. After the services, her body was tenderly laid to rest in the Doylesburg Cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Ann Doyle Shields, aged 81, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth Yocum, near Doylesburg on Friday, March 15. She was the widow of Daniel Shields, who died a number of years ago. She was a member of the Doylesburg Methodist Church and is survived by the following children: Bernard of Dry Run, Charles of Doylesburg, Elmer of Nebraska, Mrs. Elizabeth Yocum and Mrs. Agnes Rosenberry, both of Doylesburg, Edward, Denton and Barbara of Ohio, and Mary Shearer of Blairs Mills. Funeral services conducted by Rev. H.E. Hudgins were held Tuesday in the Doylesburg Methodist Church. Interment at Doylesburg.

Mrs. Margaret G. Doyle died at her home in Dry Run, on Monday, aged 87 years. She was in her usual health when a neighbor called in the evening. She was found dead in her chair. Her husband Anthony Doyle died a number of years ago. She is survived by three daughters and two sons: Mrs. Elizabeth Barnhart, Dry Run; Mrs. Minnie Clark, East Waterford; Mrs. Annie Grove, Pittsburgh; William Doyle, Bellwood; Pearl E. Doyle, Fannettsburg; also one brother, Taylor Goshorn of Doylesburg. Interment will be at Doylesburg.

Mrs. Elizabeth Doyle died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Judith Best in Doylesburg, last Thursday, aged 79 years and 9 months. She was a daughter of Thomas McElhenny of Concord and was a loyal member of St. Marys Catholic Church at Doylesburg. Her husband, John Doyle, died several years ago. She is survived by six sons and one daughter. Basil of Shippensburg; Mack and Joseph of Ohio; Alonza of Doylesburg; William of Dry Run; Leo of Waynesboro; Judith and Mrs. Harry Best of Doylesburg, and one brother, Philip McElhenny of McSherrystown. Burial today at Doylesburg.

William Isaac Zeigler died at his home near Doylesburg, Thursday, July 24. He had been a sufferer for years with asthma but his death was due to apoplexy. He was engaged in farming in his early life, but later was a foreman on the state road. He was a director in the Path Valley bank since its organization and served a term as county auditor. His first wife was Annie Doyle. To this union there were two children, Basil Zeigler of Doylesburg, and Mary (deceased). His second wife was Maud Crouse and she and two children survive- Zelda Crouse of Willow Hill and Frank at home. He is also survived by two half-brothers, George and Joseph Zeigler of Dry Run, and two Half-sisters, Mrs. Jennie Baker of Chambersburg, and Mrs. Blanche Hammond of Dry Run. Funeral was held Sunday with services in the Doylesburg Church, conducted by his pastor, Rev. H.E. Hudgins.
